Youth held on rape charges

KOCHI: Police on Sunday arrested a person, who had allegedly raped a girl after blackmailing her with nude photos. Jibin George, 26, of Panampilly Nagar, was arrested from his residence by a police team led by Kalamassery Circle Inspector N R Jayaraj.
Police claimed that the accused had taken the girl to a resort in Munnar as a part of an event management programme and took her nude photos after giving her a soft drink with sedatives. “He later started blackmailing her showing the photos and repeatedly raped her,” the police said. The police have seized a computer and the mobile phone from the accused which had the photos of the girl. An investigation was on to ascertain whether the accused had raped any other girls using this modus operandi.Jibin was later produced before the court and was remanded in judicial custody.
